The wait is over. On May 2nd, the most expensive boxing event in history will take place. Guys, it’s only 71 days away. Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao is finally a reality. Mayweather made the announcement via the Shots app, an app used for “selfie sharing” that Mayweather is a huge investor in.

may-shotsThere’s been talks of the two men trading punches since 2009. Since then, Mayweather has continued his dominance, while Pacquiao has dropped two fights; one via KO to Juan Manuel Marquez and a highly controversial split decision to Timothy Bradley. And even after all of that – the fans are still clamoring for this fight. Let’s take a look at some of the particulars via Dan Rafael over at ESPN, bovada.lv and the two men who will share the ring together themselves. .

• Mayweather opens at a -285, Pacquiao is the +225 dog who likely has a lot of early money coming in on him.

• Money wise, it’s going to be a 60/40 split for Mayweather. It only makes sense seeing that Money May is still undefeated at 47-0, while the highly decorated Pac-Man is certainly still sitting pretty at 57-5-2.

• The fight will be contested at 147 lbs and will unify their world welterweight titles. Per Dan Rafael of ESPN, there is no rematch clause.

• As far as the drama between Showtime and HBO (Mayweather is a Showtime fighter, Pac is a HBO fighter) both networks have agreed to make this an unprecedented joint broadcast. The going price for the event? How about $89.95 for SD and $99.95 for HD.
