Ever since the UFC decided to introduce the women’s strawweight division, top ranked competitor Jessica Aguilar (19-4) has been recognized as the one fighter outside of the promotion who could threaten for the championship. As announced by UFC officials yesterday, “Jag” will finally be able to compete with the best of the best after being stuck in World Series of Fighting purgatory.

WSOF granted Aguilar her release last month due to not being able to find the promotions strawweight champion any legit competition to threaten for her title. Now, on the strength of a 10-fight win streak, Aguilar will make her UFC debut on August 1st in Brazil against hometown hero Claudia Gadelha in what will likely be a number #1 contenders duel for the strap currently held by Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
