Floyd Mayweather Jr. successfully passed Rocky Marciano’s record tonight. The now retired 5-division champion will go down as the only championship boxer to score a 50-0 record and although many will ask for an asterisk to be placed by this, the final victory of his career, against a boxing novice in Conor McGregor, a win is a win.
The final stats via the folks over at CompuBox show that McGregor did put up a legitimate fight, landing 111 punches in a contest that many boxing pundits believed he wouldn’t land even 1. Here’s what the numbers said.
The official scorecard for the fight had Mayweather cruising to a victory before he decided to keep the judges out of the equation in the 10th round.
Mayweather has confirmed that this will indeed be his last fight. McGregor is expected to head back to the UFC to defend his lightweight title in late 2017, early 2018.
