‘Rampage’ vs. Tito to headline Bellator’s inaugural November 2nd PPV

We knew Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson had a major announcement to make during this evening’s Bellator 97 broadcast. But he didn’t make the one everyone inside of the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico and the folks watching on television at home expected.

It was being teased for weeks that Rampage’s first fight for Bellator MMA would be on a year-end PPV against boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. And with Roy Jones Jr. sitting front and center tonight by the Bellator cage there was no reason to think any different. When it came time for the former PRIDE and UFC legend to make his announcement though, the MMA world would be in for quite the surprise.

‘The People’s Champion’ Tito Ortiz would be the one making the walk to the cage, waving his trademark flag before he would enter for the first of many staredowns to promote what will be Bellator’s first PPV on November 2nd in Long Beach California. “Rampage vs. Tito,” two fighters with such storied histories that there really is no need to put their last, or birth names for that matter on the poster. Check back later for the full video of arguably the most historic moment in Bellator’s young history.
