While watching tonight’s touching open to Monday Night RAW on the USA Network, it was hard to fathom that just one week ago today we saw The Ultimate Warrior enter the ring to speak to the WWE Universe for what would be the final time.
Warrior passed the following day with his wife by his side due to what would be determined as a massive heart attack.
Every wrestler on the roster, along with Vince McMahon and Stephanie, came out on stage tonight to open up the show while a tear inducing video package that included highlights from his career and Hall of Fame induction played on the Titantron. His final inspirational speech played over the footage while fans inside of the BJCC Arena in Birmingham, Alabama wore their Warrior masks with pride. It was a moment that reminded why we became fans of professional wrestling in the first place, and why the WWE is the most classy organization in sports and entertainment today.
For some of us, The Ultimate Warrior was such a big part of our childhood, and these positive memories he, and so many other wrestlers from our youth were a part of provided us with the kind of excitement that a new generation of children are experiencing today with the current roster.
I know it may seem cliché sometimes, but the ‘Then.Now.Forever’ intro we watch at the beginning of every show and pay-per-view really resonates with us during moments like this.
