The “Star that left them in the Dust,” Cody Rhodes, was present during this years annual PWG ‘Battle of Los Angeles’ tournament, wrestling the likes of Sami Callihan and Marty Scrull; the latter of whom would eliminate Rhodes.
Rhodes also had a chat with WON‘s Dave Meltzer (who was spotted looking ripped to the core at the event) about his future in pro wrestling. Here’s what we learned from Dave:
• Rhodes plans to work both ROH (he’s already been signed to make his debut there at Final Battle on December 2nd) and TNA (Impact Wrestling – or whatever the kids are calling in these days) simultaneously. Both deals will be of the non-exclusive variety.
• Rhodes’ wife, Brandi Rhodes (former WWE ring announcer Eden Stiles), will work with Cody in TNA and feud with current TNA Knockouts champ Maria Kannellis. This will reportedly be part of a program involving Mike Bennett (Kannellis’ real life husband) and Rhodes. Bennett and Rhodes collided late last month for the Northeast Wrestling (NEW) promotion. Brandi was active in the finish of the match, slapping Bennett before Rhodes hit his Cross Rhodes finisher for the win.
• Rhodes will not be able to use the “Rhodes” name while appearing on television. This is something he still needs to iron out with WWE if they’re willing to play ball with him.
• A feud with Adam Cole is the number one thing on Rhodes’ list when it comes to working for Ring of Honor.
Here’s a look at Rhodes’ upcoming indie schedule:
