It appears that WWE’s first Universal Champion may be headed back to the injured reserve.
Last night on RAW, Finn Bálor competed in singles action on WWE programming for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury in his match against Seth Rollins last year at Summerslam, an injury that would sideline him until just recently.
Bálor would face Jinder Mahal in a quick match that was going just fine until Mahal cold cocked his opponent with a stiff elbow that appeared to land right behind his left ear. After face planting on the mat as a result of the blow, Bálor, with his eyes glazed over, appeared to wrestle the rest of the match on autopilot before finishing Mahal off with a coup de grâce.
PWInisder is now reporting that Bálor did indeed suffer a concussion as a result of the the elbow thrown by Mahal during their match. While it hasn’t been officially announced by WWE officials, it’s currently unclear how much time Bálor will miss. Here’s to a quick and safe return for one of pro wrestling’s most beloved stars.
