The long awaited and highly anticipated UFC debut of Rin Nakai is going to happen after all. The undefeated bantamweight Queen of Pancrase will fight in very familiar territory against a top ranked in opponent in former Strikeforce women’s champion Miesha Tate. UFC Tonight’s Ariel Helwani confirmed that the fight is being targeted for UFC Fight Night 52 in Saitama, Japan earlier this evening.
“There’s a big show in Japan on September 20 and the main event is Roy Nelson vs. Mark Hunt. I’m hearing that Miesha Tate could fight Rin Nakai, who is about to be signed to the UFC. She’s one of the rising prospects from Japan and is 16-0-1.”
This card is likely to be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.
Nakai, who has been promoted in Japan as a major sex symbol in videos like this one, holds notable victories over Tara LaRosa, Brenda Gonzalez, and her latest coming over Sarah D’Alelio last month at Pancrase 258.
Tate has struggled of late with a 2-3 showing over her last 5 bouts. She was getting hammered in her fight against Julie Kedzie before scoring the late armbar victory and some would argue she dropped the first two rounds in her UD victory over Liz Carmouche earlier this year on FOX.
UFC Fight Night 52 will be headlined by heavyweight flamethrowers and fan favorites Mark ‘The Super Samoan’ Hunt and Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson.
