Today (23rd March) marks the anniversary of WWE’s purchase of rival WCW from all the way back in the late 1990s. Nearly 25 years later, WWE want more of the competition.
Insider reports (specifically ProWrestlingSheet) report that Sinclair Broadcast Company (the owners of Ring of Honor Wrestling) are in talks with World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. and Vince McMahon about a potential purchase. Whilst it must be stated that there are no deals on the table that we know of, there are already talks of how post-purchase life would go for the acquired brand.
Reports say that ROH may continue as a WWE Network exclusive show, which brings into question the future of NXT, which has had declining viewership recently due to reduced brand interest. It also would change WWE’s working relationship with EVOLVE.
