Smackdown Live Highlights (2.14.17): The Era of Wyatt has begun

After pinning John Cena and AJ Styles clean to earn his first WWE Championship, Bray Wyatt has arrived in Anaheim, CA to make his first title defense against John Cena in the main event of Smackdown Live. Could Cena derail his hopes of spreading fear across the WWE Universe and become a record breaking 17x world champion? Or will Wyatt continue to spread his message leading into the main event of WrestleMania 33 against Royal Rumble winner a his very own ‘family member’ Randy Orton? Let’s check out the highlights.

“She never said that this would be easy. “They will lie to you,” she said. “They will try to denounce you,” she said. “They will try to steal your gift,” and she was right. Sister Abigail always spoke the truth. And so do I. So when I tell you I knew this day would come, I am not telling you a lie. And on this day in this moment in time right now this very second I can truly say that I have the whole damn world [raises the belt above his head] in my hands.”

After a couple of interruptions, Smackdown Live GM Daniel Bryan would go on to turn tonight’s main event between Wyatt and Cena into a triple-threat title match between Wyatt, Cena and AJ Styles.

The final two teams from Sunday’s Tag Team Turmoil match at the Elimination Chamber PPV square off again.

Yet another backstage altercation between Nikki Bella and Natlaya leads to a furious Daniel Bryan announcing a ‘Falls Count Anywhere’ match for next week.

Instead of facing James Ellsworth, Dean Ambrose ends up in the hospital due to a vicious beatdown from Smackdown’s resident Lone Wolf.

Sorry, we’ve completely lost interest. You tell me what he said.

Becky Lynch and Mickie James continue to make magic in the ring together. James would even things up after suffering defeat at Elimination Chamber but not without some of the controversy that seems to follow her everywhere.

Newly minted Smackdown Women’s Champion Naomi reveals an injury before being interrupted by the woman she defeated to earn her strap, Alexa Bliss.

John Cena, AJ Styles and Bray Wyatt tear the house down in the main event.

Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton relinquishes his right to challenge Wyatt for the Championship at WrestleMania. Does Wyatt still have a hold over ‘The Viper’? Or is Orton playing the long game in his quest to become a 13-time world champion? All we can say is that we’re more intrigued than we’ve been in a long time a WrestleMania main event. Stay tuned.
