UFC 216 weigh-in results: Kevin Lee makes championship weight in overtime

Published

on

Today’s early weigh-ins for UFC 216 out of The Mirage in Las Vegas are officially in overtime and as of 2 p.m. ET.  Here’s an update on the drama that went down.

Nik Lentz did not weigh in due to medial issues which means his lightweight bout with former Bellator champ Will Brooks will not take place on tomorrow night’s card.

A very gaunt looking Kevin Lee arrived to hit the scale with less than a minute left. Lee reportedly had 19 pounds to cut as of yesterday. He’d weigh in at 156 lbs; since his fight with Tony Ferguson is for a title, being one a pound over was not good enough. NSAC executive director Bob Bennett notified the folks in attendance that Lee would have up to one hour to cut the extra weight if he could gain a doctor’s approval. Lee would be granted approval but has yet to come back to the scale. He has until 3:15 p.m. ET to make the weight.

UPDATE: Kevin Lee weighed in at 154.5 lbs at 3:13 p.m. ET. The main event is on.

The ceremonial weigh-in event set to take place at 8 p.m. ET later today.
