Rose Namajunas is a UFC champion. And while that may not surprise you, the method by which she won it just might.
Namajunas was able to put a halt to now former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s bid to tie Ronda Rousey’s record of six consecutive title defenses by a female mixed martial artist with a picture perfect left hook that shook her to the core. Joanna would drop into a prone position where Namajunas would reign down more unanswered strikes until the self-proclaimed ‘Boogey Woman’ would tap just as ‘Big’ John McCarthy put a halt to the action.

Namajunas was able to keep her composure during fight week as she recited the Lord’s Prayer every time Jedrzejczyk used her trademark mental warfare by getting into her face and talking smack. It made for one of the crazier scenes leading up to what will go down as one of the biggest upsets in UFC title fight history.
Namajunas is the first fighter to defeat Jedrzejczyk in her mixed martial arts career. Before tonight, the Polish born fighter was recognized as the top undefeated fighter in the sport and the #7 ranked pound for pound fighter in the world.
Final Result: Rose Namajunas (7-3) defeats Joanna Jedrzejczyk (c) (14-1) via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 3:03
