Night one of WWE’s ‘Superstar Shakeup’ kicked off with a bang when the Intercontinental Championship came with Dean Ambrose to RAW along with The Miz and Maryse in the opening segment of the show. You can watch that here.
Later on in the show, it was announced that Apollo Crews, Kalisto, Heath Slater and Rhyno would also be joining Ambrose and The Miz on Monday nights.
After Finn Balor defeated Jinder Mahal in his first singles match on RAW since returning to WWE TV, former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt appeared on the Titantron to reveal that he would be switching brands. Wyatt also informed us that he’ll be keeping a close eye on Balor and his ‘House of Horrors’ match with the who defeated him for the WWE Title, Randy Orton, is still very much on. Interestingly enough, that match will take place at the RAW branded Payback PPV on April 30th.
Some may ask, “why is the Smackdown world title being defended on a RAW branded PPV?” Luckily, I’m here to answer that for you guys. The next Smackdown PPV doesn’t take place for 6 weeks so this is just a way for WWE to keep things fresh and create some build up on Smackdown while they wait until Backlash takes place on May 21st.
The final “Shakeup” of the night came when Alexa Bliss and Mickie James joined RAW. Bliss emerged to a monster pop after Sasha Banks approached Bayley, teasing a heel turn. James would come out soon after to a much smaller reaction only to get obliterated by Nia Jax. Jax would take out Banks and Bayley as well, sparing Bliss before heading to the back. It was a huge night for Jax who defeated Charlotte Flair earlier in the night signifying that Flair is likely headed to Smackdown Live tomorrow night.
