Alberto Del Rio makes first statement post WWE release

Last night it was announced that now former WWE superstar Alberto Del Rio would be holding a press conference today in Mexico City to announce his future with the company. This morning, WWE released the following statement in regards to Del Rio’s status with the promotion:

WWE and Jose Rodriguez (Alberto Del Rio) have mutually agreed upon the terms of his release as of today, September 9, 2016.

Del Rio tweeted out the following soon after his former employer announced his release:

My business relationship with @WWE has come to an end in good terms…thanks for the opportunities they gave me.

The aforementioned press conference is expected to begin shortly. We’ll have a full update on Del Rio’s future outside of the WWE soon after.
