Anderson Silva vs. Uriah Hall fantasy fight headed to UFC 198 in Brazil

Anderson Silva

Those fantasy fights you’ve been salivating over for Anderson Silva (33-7) since he lost his title, they’re all finally happening.

Sherdog has reported that a fight between the former 10-time defending middleweight champion and TUF 17 finalist Uriah Hall (12-6) should be finalized soon for the upcoming UFC 198 PPV in Curitiba, Brazil.

Silva, who is still widely regarded as the greatest fighter in the history of the sport, finds himself with a o-3 (1) record over his last four fights. We saw the legendary 40-year-old return to the octagon for the first time after serving a one-year suspension for using a banned substance last month in London against Michael Bisping in an effort that earned both men fight of the night honors. While the damage on Bisping’s face may have told a different story, it was Silva’s showboating and inability to finish like he had been able to do with ease in the past that earned “The Count” the biggest win of his career.

Always the consummate showman, Silva’s showboating may have been his undoing in the Bisping contest, but it’s simply his style. It’s what made him the legend that he is today and it’s been the cause of his downfall.

When it comes to underachieving, Uriah Hall has made a career of it. Hall made a name for himself on the 3rd episode of TUF 17 by knocking out Adam Cella with a spinning hook kick that broke the internet. Since graduating from TUF, he’s posted a mediocre 5-4 record peppered with moments of greatness like his video game combo finisher of Gegard Mousasi last year inside of the Saitama Super Arena, home of some of the most celebrated contests in MMA history. Hall would go on to take a short notice fight with Kiwi born fan favorite Robert Whittaker in Australia less than two months later which he would lose via UD.

Anderson Silva versus Uriah Hall isn’t a fight for the fans – it’s thee fight for the fans. Take a look at your rumored card for UFC 198 ‘Werdum vs. Miocic’ as it stands today below and tell us what you think in the comments section below.
