Anderson Silva versus Derek Brunson added to already stacked UFC 208 ‘Brooklyn’ card

A middleweight battle between UFC legend Anderson Silva (33-8) and 8th ranked middleweight Derek Brunson (16-4) has been added to the promotions upcoming UFC 208 PPV in Brooklyn per UFC President Dana White.
This more than welcome announcement came out of nowhere for a card that was thought to be all but finalized considering it was under a month away and already had 14 fights scheduled to take place.

For Silva, the longest reigning champ in UFC middleweight history, it will be another chance to collect his first win in the division since he TKO’d Chael Sonnen all the way back in the summer of 2012. For Brunson, the heavy-hitter out of Wilmington, North Carolina, it will be a chance to get back into the win column after his 5-fight win streak was stopped by Robert Whittaker in a back and forth slug fest that lasted all of four minutes and seven seconds. Oh ya, he’ll also be able to say he beat a man that many continue to call the greatest of all-time.
UFC 208 will mark the first visit to Brooklyn for the promotion and the 3rd to the state of New York since the sport was legalized there last year.
