Ashlee Evans-Smith TKO’s Marciea Allen at WSOF 10

After a nine fight amateur career filled with highs and lows, Ashlee Evans-Smith seems to be putting it all together as a pro. She moved her record to 3-0 tonight in Las Vegas with an impressive TKO victory over an ultra tough competitor in Marciea “Black Widow” Allen.

Allen came in over the bantamweight limit of 136 lbs forcing her not only to forfeit 20% of her purse, but also putting the fight itself in jeopardy. Evans-Smith would end up accepting the fight though and it would become a catchweight affair.

The fight started off as a feeling out process. Allen was very effective with her leg kicks early while Evans-Smith was doing her best to tuck in her chin, keep her hands up and avoid the fresh power puncher early. She fired off some tired kicks of her own and some courageous front kicks to boot that missed the mark by a mile. The leg kicks are adding up for Allen as the 1st round continues. Evans-Smith is switching from orthodox to southpaw and back. It’s not clear if this is because of Allen’s kicks or if it’s part of Evans-Smith’s game plan. She eventually goes for the inevitable takedown but Allen stuffs it and they remain against the cage for the final minute of the opening stanza. As referee Mark Smith threatens to break it up without action, Evans-Smith stays busy landing knees to the thighs of Allen until the horn sounds.

The second round would see Allen getting the best of her opponent standing. That said, Evans-Smith was not in trouble and did look comfortable on her feet. She landed to the body with authority, but it was clear that Allen is the more polished striker. She takes the second round and it appears that we may be even heading into the third.

Evans-Smith got into her comfort zone in the third. Her hard work in the gym paid off as she proved that she is clearly the Kyra Sedgwick of MMA. She closed out Allen at the 3:01 marker of the third and final round after doing work to get her into the crucifix position. From there, Evans-Smith would continue to elbow her opponent in the head until Mark Smith would be forced to stop the contest due to Allen’s unresponsiveness.

Final Result:  Ashlee Evans-Smith (3-0) defeats Marciea Allen (3-2) via TKO (elbows from crucifix) – Round 3, 3:01
