News on Brie Bella’s future after retirement; Total Divas season 6 casting changes

Published

on

Brie Bella’s career as an active wrestler ended this past Sunday at WrestleMania 32. Brie helped earn her team (Team Total Divas) a victory on the kickoff portion of the show by forcing Naomi (Team BAD & Blonde) to tap to her Yes! Lock finisher.

Brie would be joined by her twin sister, the injured Nikki Bella, neck brace and all, while celebrating her final WWE victory. Many expected a formal announcement from Brie on the RAW after Mania but that would not be the case. And there’s a good reason for that.

According to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Brie’s retirement storyline is being saved for the next season of Total Divas. She recently signed a new contract with WWE and will serve as an ambassador for the company while remaining as a regular cast member of the E! reality show. Her main focus following retirement is to start a family with her husband, recently retired WrestleMania 30 headliner Daniel Bryan.

In other Total Divas news, Alicia Fox, Mandy Rose & Rosa Mendes’ services will not be needed for season 6 of the program. Renee Young, Lana, Maryse & Naomi (who starred in seasons 1-4) will all be brought on as full timers to join The Bella’s, Natalya, Eva Marie & Paige. WrestlingINC broke the news on their website last night.

This would explain the recent return of Maryse, who was thrown into The Miz-Zack Ryder IC Championship storyline on RAW last night, to WWE programming. Fans of The Miz (Maryse’s husband), Dean Ambrose (Renee Young’s beau) and Rusev (Lana’s fiance) can expect to see plenty of behind the scenes goodies when season 6 debuts on E! later this year.
