The only man in history to hold both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and UFC World Heavyweight Championship could be returning to mixed martial arts sooner rather than later.

MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani is reporting that Lesnar and the UFC are close to finalizing a deal that would see “The Beast Incarnate” return as soon as UFC 200 on July 9th. UFC 100, which was headlined by Lesnar and Frank Mir in a heavyweight title bout, still remains as the highest selling UFC PPV of all-time.

Lesnar retired from MMA after losing to current #1 contender Alistair Overeem back at UFC 141 in December of 2011. Lesnar’s struggles with diverticulitis during this time period have been well documented.

Following his run with the UFC, Lesnar returned to WWE where he found incredible success. Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak in 2014 and won the World Heavyweight Title from John Cena a handful of months later at SummerSlam in dominant fashion.

Lesnar is currently still under contract with WWE which means Vince and company are likely asking for something big in return for one of their stars competing at UFC 200. As far as opponents go, Helwani states in his report that it’s unclear who is under consideration to face Lesnar should he come back.
