CM Punk defeats WWE doctor in court case

Just four days before he does battle inside of the Octagon at UFC 225, CM Punk walked away from the Cook County Courthouse with a major victory.
Punk, birth name Phillip Brooks, and his friend, indie wrestler and commentator Colt Cabana (Scott Colton), were defendants in a six-day defamation lawsuit filed against them by WWE Dr. Christopher Amann. Amann was seeking nearly $4 million damages for comments Punk made on Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast.
After two hours of deliberation, a jury decided that neither man was guilty of any of the charges filed by Dr. Amann. Punk and his wife, former WWE Divas Champion and best-selling author AJ Lee (April Mendez) reportedly met in a tearful embrace after the verdict was read.
Punk will have home court advantage when he competes against Mike Jackson in a welterweight contest to open up the PPV portion of UFC 225 this coming Saturday inside of Chicago’s United Center, just miles away from where this case took place.
