Stephanie McMahon shuts down “CM Punk” chants with authority in Chicago

It’s no secret that whenever the WWE visits Allstate Arena in Chicago, fans tend to get a bit unruly when it comes to the “CM Punk” chants. Tonight was no different.
Ever since Punk walked out on his former employers, the hometown fans have stood firmly in the corner of their “Second City Saint,” by voicing their displeasure at any given moment during live shows. The “CM Punk” chant has even taken over for “Boring” chants all over the world, not just in Chicago, at WWE shows. During tonight’s show open, Stephanie McMahon was counting on the Punk chants to start. And start they did, immediately upon her arrival to the ring.
“If you could keep that up for about two minutes and fifteen seconds,” a jubilant Stephanie said to the crowd, “you would last one second longer than Punk did.”
Who better to kick things off tonight than #RAW Commissioner @StephMcMahon?! She looks happy to be back… pic.twitter.com/PtG1KhjwIe

Punk’s UFC debut against Mickey Gall earlier this year saw the former WWE champ tapping to a rear naked-choke at the 2:14 marker of the very first round. Of course, the crowd would get right back into the Punk chants just moments later when Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns joined Steph in the ring, but they would only last a few seconds and would only remind us of Stephanie’s beautiful roast (not the one she burnt on Christmas Day) just moments ago.
Stephanie’s verbal jab go so much attention that CM Punk starting trending on Twitter just moments later. Here’s how Twitter reacted:
The best part is, Stephanie was sitting on that CM Punk jab ALL DAY and you can see she was so happy she got to use it lol
