CM Punk to fight Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in Cleveland

The home of the World Champion Cleveland Cavaliers will play host to the long-awaited mixed martial arts debut of one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling.
It’s official, CM Punk (0-0) will fight Mickey Gall (2-0) at UFC 203 inside of Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena. Punk made the announcement himself yesterday on the new UFC Unfiltered podcast hosted by Matt Serra and Jim Norton. The September 10th event will be headlined by an intriguing heavyweight title bout pitting newly crowned champion and hometown hero Stipe Miocic against Alistair Overeem. In the co-main event, also at heavyweight, former champ Fabricio Werdum will take on Ben Rothwell.
Punk was signed to the UFC in late 2014 but injuries from his prior career have delayed him being giving an official debut date – until now. Gall won the “CM Punk” sweepstakes earlier this year on the UFC Fight Pass portion of UFC Fight Night 82 with a 45-second submission win over Mike Jackson. Punk versus Gall will be contested at 170 lbs and for all intents and purposes should take place on the PPV portion of UFC 203.
