Cris Cyborg title bout, Edgar vs. Ortega keep UFC 222 afloat

A fight card that was once in jeopardy has now been saved.
According to a report from MMAFighting, UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg (19-1) will defend her title against current Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya (10-3). Frankie Edgar (22-5-1), who was originally slated to fight Max Holloway for the featherweight strap in the main event before Holloway got injured, will remain on the card. He’ll take on the undefeated Brian Ortega (13-0) in a co-main event title eliminator. UFC President Dana White later confirmed the report on UFC Tonight. The event will still take place on March 3rd inside of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A number of fights, including a TJ Dillashaw-Cody Garbrandt title rematch and a Nate Diaz return, were rumored to replace Holloway-Edgar before there was talk about potential of the card being canceled altogether due to lack of a title fight headliner.
UFC President Dana White is slated to appear on UFC Tonight at 8 p.m. on FOX Sports 1 to confirm the aforementioned news.
