Cyborg vs. Holm title bout official for UFC 219

UFC 219 finally has its headliner and it’s a big one.
Cris ‘Cyborg’ (18-1) will defend her UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship for the first time against Holly Holm (11-3) on December 30th in Las Vegas. UFC officials confirmed the news just moments ago.
The promotion had been trying to make this fight for the year-end PPV for quite some time now but were unable to reach a deal with the fighters. Just when it was beginning to seem like a deal wasn’t going to get done, talks heated up and the bout agreements were signed.
Holm will look to shock the MMA world for a second time just over two years removed from her KO of Ronda Rousey in Melbourne back at UFC 193. With a victory, Holm would become the 5th 2-division champion in UFC history and the 3rd to accomplish the feat in the past 13 months.
Cyborg will enter the Octagon with a 12-year unbeaten streak that includes a record of 8-0 in title fights. Before winning the vacant UFC Featherweight strap this past Summer, Cyborg held and defended gold in both Strikeforce and Invicta FC.
Tickets go on sale for UFC 219 ‘Cyborg vs. Holm’ on December 1st.
