Dana White: We’re gonna do Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping

After over a month of nearly everyone in the division calling him out since he shocked the world by knocking out Luke Rockhold to claim the UFC middleweight title, Michael Bisping (29-7) finally has an opponent for his first title defense. And it’s the fight he wanted.
With a date and a venue TBA, Bisping will defend his title against Dan Henderson (32-14) in a rematch of their UFC 100 bout. The bad taste in Bisping’s mouth since being brutally KO’d by Henderson nearly 7 years ago to the date (the anniversary will tomorrow to be exact) has lingered and now that he’s the champion, he’ll finally get a rematch on his terms and on likely on his turf in Manchester, England.
“I promise revenge on Dan Henderson on behalf of the people of England.” – Michael Bisping
UFC President Dana White made the announcement, with Bisping present, on the FOX Sports 1 post fight show late last night following UFC 200. The bad blood between Bisping and Hendo boiled over during their time as coaches on TUF Season 9 ‘Team U.S. vs. Team UK’ making their UFC 100 bout the go to grudge match of the card. With Bisping infamously circling towards Hendo’s power H-Bomb, he’d eat that right hand hard. It’d knock him out cold and he’d even eat another for good measure just to, as Hendo said, “shut him up a little bit,” which has never sat right with Bisping since. This fight not only gives Bisping the opportunity for personal revenge, it also gives a 45-year-old legendary former PRIDE and Strikeforce champion in Hendo the opportunity to ride of into the sunset with the one accolade that has eluded him.
Stay tuned for more news on ‘Bisping vs. Hendo II’ as it becomes available to us.
