Watch: A new TNA Impact World Champion is crowned

TNA World Heavyweight champion Bobby Lashley was given a choice by his boss, Billy Corgan, to kick off tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling on POP TV. Lashley could’ve defended his title against either Moose, EC3 (who he already beat at Bound for Glory this past Sunday night) or Eddie Edwards. Lashley would peg Edwards as the easiest target of the bunch. The rest was history.
Unfortunately for Lashley, Edwards would turn out to be a game opponent on the night. Edwards would counter a Lashley spear with a Boston Knee Party to begin his first ever TNA world title reign and shock the pro wrestling world.
There was nobody in attendance or watching live (unless they read the spoilers) that would’ve expected to see Edwards defeat Lashley on this night for the world title. The title change was likely due to Lashley’s obligation to Bellator MMA later this month. That said, one would’ve thought that Lashley dropping the title to EC3 at Bound for Glory would’ve been the better move. Then again, this is TNA we’re talking about there. All we know is that congratulations are in order for Eddie Edwards on this night, a night where the world saw him join the likes of AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries and more as the 8th TNA Triple Crown Champion.
