Holly Holm ‘so excited’ about her unexpected UFC title shot

It was an unexpected turn of events when Ronda Rousey announced that she’d be defending her UFC women’s bantamweight title against Holly Holm to kick off 2016. After all, Rousey also announced that she’d be defending her title against the winner of Miesha Tate versus Jessica Eye earlier this year. So after Tate went out and dominated Eye and everyone, including Rousey and UFC President Dana White, repeatedly assured the public and Tate that a 3rd fight between the two was next – we instead get a Friday morning shocker on Good Morning America of all places. Hey, it’s Ronda Rousey’s world and we’re just living in it.
In the video above, Holm tells us that she was expected to fight her teammate, former Strikeforce women’s champ Sarah Kaufman, next. Instead, headline her first UFC PPV when she’s takes on the biggest star in the company today on January 2nd in Las Vegas.
