‘Honor Rising 2016’ Night One: Major ROH Title changes hands in Japan

Published

on

Ring of Honor & New Japan Pro Wrestling came together to treat Korakuen Hall to not one, but two nights of professional wrestling at the highest level this weekend in Tokyo. Below, you’ll the quick results of ‘Honor Rising’ night one.

Tag Team Match: Jushin Thunder Liger & Matt Sydal defeat Dalton Castle (w/ The Boys) & Ryusuke Taguchi. Sydal got the pin on Castle after hitting his ‘Shooting Sydal Press’.

Singles Match: Delorious defeats Gedo via pinfall. The pro Gedo crowd was not impressed with this one but it makes sense with Gedo defeating Delirious last year on his home soil.

Singles Match: KUSHIDA defeats Frankie Kazarian via submission (hoverboard lock)

8-Man Tag Team Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi, Micheal Elgin, Moose & Tomoaki Honma defeat Bullet Club (Bad Luck Fale, Cody Hall, Toma Tonga & Yujiro Takahashi) via pinfall. Moose pinned Hall after hitting his Spear finisher. P.S. – Japan loves them some Moose.

6-Man Tag Team Match: The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) defeat ReDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) & Katsuyori Shibata via pinfall

Omega hit his ‘One Winged Angel’ finsiher before pinning O’Reilly.

Tag Team Match: The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) defeat The Bullet Club (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson) via pinfall.

Tag Team Match: Jay Lethal (w/ Truth Martini) & Tetsuya Naito (w/ Bushi & Evil) defeat Kazuchika Okada & YOHSI-HASHI (w/ Gedo) via pinfall

Lethal pinned HASHI after hitting his Lethal Injection finisher. It appears that Los Ingobernables & The House of Truth are very much in cahoots after watching this display.

ROH World Television Title Match: Tomohiro Ishii defeats Roderick Strong via pinfall to become the new ROH World Television Champion

Big surprise here. Ishii hit the brainbuster before pinning Strong to become the new ROH World TV Champ. This just shows us how “Strong” the relationship is between NJPW & ROH. Expect to see a 4-man title match between Ishii, Strong, Goto & Fish at the 14th Anniversary Show next weekend in Vegas where anything is possible. Remember, NJPW will be back in May for the Global Wars PPV & War of the Worlds Tour for multiple shows to continue this beautiful relationship.
