Invicta FC 13 ‘Cyborg vs. Van Duin’ preview and fight card

The Chelsea at the Cosmo will be the site for Invicta FC’s next offering which will kick off UFC International fight weekend on July 9th. Two titles will be defended and one will be up for grabs on this stacked card that takes place on a Thursday night of all nights.

The main event of the evening will see Invicta FC featherweight champion Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino (13-1) look to continue her ultra violent reign and extend her (T)KO streak to 8 when she takes on Kiwi standout Faith Van Duin (5-1).

Fight Booth 2014 ‘Upset of the Year‘ winner Herica Tiburcio (9-2) will make the first defense of her atomweight title against former Jewels Lightweight Queen Ayaka Hamasaki (11-1). The 4’11” champ will look to cement herself as the best female atomweight on the planet but it won’t be a picnic. Hamasaki has fought in just about every weight class known to woman and holds wins over big names in WMMA like Mei Yamaguchi, Naho Sugiyama, Seo Hee Ham (2) and Mizuki Inoue.

Sandwiched in between the two aforementioned title bouts will be a scrap for the bantamweight title vacated by Lauren Murphy. Murphy left her bantamweight strap behind to join the UFC last summer and contenders have been jockeying for it ever since. Mexico’s Irene Aldana (5-1) finished her last two fights in the 1st round via RNC while American MMA vet Tonya Evinger (14-6) chose the armbar as her poison; both have been rewarded with an opportunity to have Invicta gold wrapped around their waist on in Las Vegas.
