Invicta FC 19 ‘Maia vs. Modafferi’ updated fight card

The Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri is the place to be on September 23rd, 2016 in particular for a great night of fights featuring two title fights that could change the landscape of WMMA.
In the main event of the evening, fresh off her incredible UD victory over Vanessa Porto earlier this year, Invicta FC interim flyweight champion Jennifer Maia will defend her strap against 2014 Fight Booth MMA comeback fighter of the year, Roxanne Modafferi.
Since moving back down to flyweight and aligning herself with Syndicate MMA, Modafferi has completely changed her approach in the cage and it’s paid off for her spades. She snapped a 6-fight losing streak in her Invicta debut and has put together a record of 4-1 since joining the Kansas City based promotion.
The winner of Maia versus Modafferi will take on Barb Honchak to unify the titles when she returns for the first time since late 2014.
In the co-main event, defending atomweight champion Ayaka Hamasaki will put her strap on the line against Jinh Yu Frey (5-1). Since suffering defeat to Jodie Esquibel via split decision at Invicta FC 8, Jinh Yu has put together a respectable 3-fight win streak which includes wins over Cassie Robb, Liz McCarthy and former Invicta atomweight queen Herica Tiburcio.
Also on the card, we’ll get the pro MMA debut of kickboxing and Muay Thai superstar Tiffany van Soest and what could very well be a #1 contenders bout between Irene Aldana and Faith Van Duin for Tonya Evinger’s bantamweight title.
