Jones-Lybarger replaces Waterson to face Torres at UFC 194

RFA strawweight champion Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger (6-1) has been tapped to replace the injured Michelle Waterson (13-4) at UFC 194.

Waterson was originally scheduled to battle the undefeated Tecia Torres (6-0) but was forced off the card due to an undisclosed injury.

Lybarger will bring a four fight winning streak with her into her octagon debut, her latest coming over the former top ranked 115 lb female in the world, Zoila Frausto, to capture the RFA women’s strawweight championship.

With victories over Felice Herrig, Rose Namajunas and Paige VanZant, Torres was regarded as one of the best prospects out of Invicta heading into the 20th season of The Ultimate Fighter, a season that would ultimately crown the first UFC women’s strawweight champion in history.

Torres was brought back after being eliminated by Randa Markos but would eventually be eliminated again by the series winner, Carla Esparza. With all three of those bouts being regarded as exhibition contests, Torres’ undefeated record would remain intact heading into her UFC debut.

The “Tiny Tornado” was able to handle both Angela Magana and Angela Hill to climb her way up to the #5 spot in the UFC’s official strawweight rankings. Torres versus Jones-Lybarger will take place on the preliminary portion of UFC 194, the final UFC PPV event of the year. Here’s a look at the updated card as it stands today:
