Jorina Baars humanizes Cris Cyborg at Lion Fight 14

The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas was the setting for this women’s welterweight title fight which featured the the 32-0-3 Jorina Baars taking on the #1 MMA featherweight in the world in Cris Cyborg. Cyborg carried a 2-0 professional Muay Thai record with her into this bout.

On a card where we saw plenty a some of men of Lion Fight hit home runs, it was these two women that hit the grand slam of the night. How often do you see a fighter with a 2-0 record come in as a favorite over someone who is undefeated in 35 fights? When that fighter is Cris Cyborg, well, it’s justifiable. Unfortunately for Cyborg, God given gifts coupled with the proper and violent technique used by Jorina Baars would prove to be too much for her on this night.
