‘Karate Hottie’ Michelle Waterson signs with UFC, strawweight debut coming this summer

Former Invicta FC atomweight champion Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson has officially become a member of the UFC’s strawweight division. The news was officially announced last night by Ariel Helwani on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Tonight.
Waterson defended her atomweight strap twice in 2014. In her first defense, she earned herself our “Most Vulgar Display of Power” award for the 14 minutes and 58 seconds of pain – consistent and creative – she administered to Yasuko Tamada at Invicta FC 8 in Kansas City. Later on in the year at Invicta FC 10 in Houston, Waterson came out on the wrong end of the biggest upset of 2014 when she dropped that same strap to Herica Tiburcio in dramatic fashion.
Waterson is expected to make her debut in the UFC’s newest division this summer. Stay tuned to this spot for news on who her first opponent will be.
