KSW 40: Start Time, Fight Card and How to Watch ‘Pudzianowski vs. Silva’ on October 22nd

Poland’s top MMA promotion, KSW (Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki), promotion will hold their first event in Ireland (and just their second outside of Poland) on Sunday and it’s creating quite the buzz.

The promotion made waves with KSW 39 this past May when they put nearly 58,000 folks in the seats inside of PGE Narodowy. To put that into perspective, the largest crowd to ever to attend a UFC event was in Australia for UFC 193 when 56,214 fans came to see Holly Holm score one of the biggest upsets in UFC history by knocking out Ronda Rousey. Pride FC’s almost mythical 2002 Shockwave show was the only mixed martial arts event in history with better attendance.

Now, nearly five months later, KSW will fill the much smaller 3Arena in Dublin, interestingly enough, just one day after the UFC visited the Ergo Arena in Poland, a regular venue for KSW in the past. The show will be main evented by 5-time World’s Strongest Man winner and KSW regular, Mariusz Pudzianowski. ‘Pudzian’ was originally set to face James McSweeney, but the TUF 10 alum was pulled from the event by KSW due to the fighter not yet being medically cleared by Safe MMA. Enter MMA journeyman Jay Silva.

The Angola born fighter, a middleweight by trade, will make his 6th appearance inside of a KSW cage when he steps in to face a heavyweight in Pudzianowski — one of the most intimidating looking figures in the sport — on super short notice.

Two title bouts were originally scheduled to take place on the card but but with former UFC lightweight Norman Parke unable to make weight, Ariane Lipski’s first defense of her flyweight title will be the lone championship bout of the night. Poland’s Lipski will take on Brazil’s Mariana Morais; the two were originally scheduled to take face off on Morais’ home soil last year at Imortal FC 4.

Despite missing weight, Parke will still take on KSW lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot in a non-title affair.

KSW 40 ‘Pudzianowski vs. Silva’ can be viewed via the FITE TV app and KSW TV beginning at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT. Here’s a look at the full fight card for the event.
