Report: Las Vegas gets McGregor-Dos Anjos, Holm-Tate title fights for UFC 197

Well, that didn’t take long. Just one day after UFC President Dana White told UFC Tonight that Conor McGregor would be allowed to move up a weight class as featherweight champ and Holly Holm would fight once before her inevitable rematch with Ronda Rousey, we now have all of the answers we’ve been craving.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter, Rafael dos Anjos’ second lightweight title defense will be against current featherweight champion Conor McGregor. McGregor will not be forced to vacate his belt which means if he emerges victorious he will be the first man in UFC history to hold two belts simultaneously. The fight will main event UFC 197 on March 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada at either the MGM Grand Garden Arena or the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

The co-main event of the evening will see Holly Holm putting her women’s bantamweight strap on the line against former Strikeforce champion Miesha Tate. Tate will bring a 4-fight winning streak into the cage against the undefeated champion who was catapulted into superstardom late last year when she obliterated Ronda Rousey in Melbourne, Australia to become the second UFC women’s bantamweight champion in company history.

Stay tuned for more information on UFC 197 as it becomes available to us.
