Legacy 36 Highlights: Did Damacio Page just deliver the KO of the year?

It was yet another successful night for the home team out of Albuquerque and it was highlighted by a disturbingly beautiful knockout by former 8-fight UFC/WEC vet Damacio Page over Brian Hall in their flyweight co-main event title bout at Legacy 36 this past Friday night.
After a four fight losing streak under the Zuffa umbrella, Page would be forced to find work elsewhere in an effort get himself back up to the big leagues. After scoring 3 wins for Legacy FC on AXS TV, a 4th in impressive fashion would likely be enough to get that call he needed from Joe Silva and Sean Shelby.
It was a fake double left jab to an overhand right that would bounce Page’s opponent’s head off the canvas. Unfortunately, Hall would be unable to get up for a good five minutes or so while Page would stop celebrating and continue to ask, “is he alright? I just want to make sure he’s alright,” before informing Ford that he “don’t hit like a small guy.” He was right. When it comes to knockouts in this sport, “The Angel of Death” would score one on this night that was as picture perfect as you’ll ever see – you can find it at the 1:30 marker below.
Page’s KO power rivals that of a man a few weight classes above him. Also, don’t forget – the UFC did not feature a flyweight division during Page’s previous tenure. When he is inevitably called up, expect him to make some major noise. Expect full analysis from our very own Dwayne Wolff on this KO in the coming hours.
Another Jackson Wink MMA fighter, Cody East, made a huge statement in the main event of the evening. When the cageside doctors finally returned from caring for Brian Hall backstage, they would need to stay close by for a heavyweight title bout that would end with another vicious finish.
We were informed by the commentary team of Michael Schiavello and Pat Miletich that East’s opponent, Vernon Lewis, enjoyed playing possum with his opponents before exploding and creating a finish of his own. After finishing Lewis with nearly a couple of dozen unanswered strikes and a couple of kicks for good measure, East would tell Miletich that he liked possums during their post fight interview. He would also thank Popeye’s chicken in that same speech, which is always enough to get a fighter on our radar.
Add two more champions to the long list of fighters associated with Jackson’s out of New Mexico. Don’t be surprised to see both Page and East fighting for the UFC in 2015.
