Lucha Underground Episode 50 Review

As we start tonight’s 50th episode of Lucha Underground, we see Vampiro back stage at the sink with Dario Cueto. Cueto threatens Vampiro with Matanza, denying the existence of Ian and saying that only Vampiro remains. Vamprio took a pill to calm him nerves, but this will not end well for Dario. Dario Cueto may be tough, but Vapiro has a dark side I wouldn’t want to cross.

Joey Ryan and Cortez talking to their Chief about Cueto. She wants him caught, and soon.

Joey Ryan informs her that they have been enrolled in the Trios Tournament. She tells them if they want to get close to Dario Cueto they better win.

Ivelisse vs. Kobra Moon

Kobra Moon goes into this match undefeated, Ivelisse, being the baddest bitch in the building, was completely unintimidated by that, and took an early lead. Kobra Moon was quick to use the rope to break holds a number of times throughout the match. These two women had a fierce exchange of hard blows and chops. Sunset flip power bomb, Ivelisse takes it.

We get a quick look into the past of Killshot enlisted at 18 and had 37 confirmed kills as a sniper. He was unfortunately captured and held for 13 months as a prisoner, escaped by fighting his way out, and found his way back home.

The Mack has been teamed up by Dario Cueto with The Moth and Mariposa, to compete in tonight Trios match. In the weight room he asks Sexy Star to come out to be his moral support, but she refuses. The Mack says that sooner or later she will have to face what they did to her.

Trios Tournament
Joey Ryan and The Crew vs. The Mack, Marty “The Moth” Martinez, and Mariposa

The Mack and Mr. Cisco provided the most amazing wrestling of the night, and it was all amazing.

Joey tags himself in, asks for Mariposa. She of course just slaps him.

A match filled with people tagging themselves in.

The Mack delivers a beautiful standing moonsault. In my opinion, He was the star of this whole match. Everything he did was beautiful.

The Mack and The Moth exchange chops, Joey Ryan pins the Moth, but being the narcissistic asshole he is, he starts jumping around yelling “I won, I won.”

Mariposa attacks The Mack, Sexy Star to the rescue. She beats the bananas out of Mariposa with the Mack cheering her on. This match was so fast and so intense, I obviously lost the ability to form complete sentences.

Rey Mysterio and Dragon Azteca are positive that Dario Cueto and Matanza have killed their Mentor, and so they vow to kill Matanza.

Next week they will compete in the Trios Tournament with Prince Puma joining them.

I don’t even know who they are fighting yet but I know this match is going to be amazing.

Matanza (c) vs Fenix

Matanza is unstoppably strong. I’m not even going to recap this match because we know what happened. It was a slaughter. No joke. Nobody even has a chance against this guy, he is huge. He’s so strong. He’s basically unstoppable. He obviously squashed Fenix.

After the bell had rung Matanza continued to pummel Fenix, until Catrina appeared on the steps of the Temple and yelled for him to stop. Matanza stood up and was attacked from behind by Mil Muertes.

If there is anyone in the Temple who can defeat Matanza, its Mil Muertes.

So that’s it, my recap of the 50th episode of Lucha Underground. It was amazing, even if my review lacked grace or proper sentence structure. Let me know your favorite spots of the week, and as always hit me up on Twitter.
