Machida admits to using banned substance, Tampa bound rematch with Hendo is off

We’re just three nights away from fight night in Tampa Bay and the main card of UFC on FOX 19 has taken another major hit.
Former light heavyweight champion and middleweight #1 contender Lyoto Machida has been pulled from his co-headlining affair with Dan Henderson due to his usage of a banned substance that was collected by USADA last week. You can find the UFC’s full statement on this matter here.
Machida admitted to using the substance while out of competition claiming that he was unaware that it was on the banned list in and out of competition. Following this admission, Machida was pulled from his rematch with Henderson, who will now have to wait to be rescheduled for a new fight on an upcoming card. Needless to say, Hendo, the oldest fighter on the active UFC roster at 45, wasn’t very happy about this recent turn of events.

With Machida-Hendo II off the main card, an exciting women’s strawweight tussle between Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres has been promoted to co-main event. Featherweights Cub Swanson and Hacran Dias will now open the FOX main card with lightweights Beneil Dariush and Michael Chisea set to close out the prelims.
