UFC 222 gets Max Holloway versus Frankie Edgar featherweight title main event

Frankie Edgar will get his third crack at UFC featherweight gold when he takes on current 145 lbs king, Max Holloway, in the main event of UFC 222.
he T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will host UFC 222, the third pay-per-view for the promotion in 2018, on March 2nd with tickets set to go on sale January 19th. MMAJunkie was the first outlet to report news of Holloway versus Edgar being re-booked.
Edgar was originally slated to fight Holloway in Detroit last month at UFC 218 but was forced to withdraw from the card due to a broken orbital bone that he suffered while training. Jose Aldo, a 2-time former featherweight champ, would fill in for Edgar, setting the table for a rematch of their title unification bout that would see Holloway become the undisputed champion of the division in Brazil earlier in the year. Aldo would suffer the exact same fate, losing to Holloway via TKO in the third round due to the relentless pressure and precision of the Hawaiian.
After coming up short in his second featherweight title bout, this one of the interim variety, against the aforementioned Aldo at UFC 200, Edgar fought his way back into title contention by taking two contenders, Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez, out of the equation. Edgar’s two losses against Aldo in title competition put him to the back of the line—until a new champion was crowned. Now, Edgar, a former 2-time defending UFC lightweight champion, will look to become the 5th two-division champion in UFC history and the third to accomplish that feat in the past two-years when he fights Holloway in Las Vegas on March 2nd.
