Michelle Waterson versus Tecia Torres booked for UFC 218

A third women’s strawweight affair has been booked for the UFC’s upcoming December visit to Detroit.

ESPN was the first to confirm the news of former Invicta Atomweight Champion and Fight Booth’s 2014 Beatdown of the Year award winner, Michelle Waterson’s (14-5) upcoming fight against TUF 20 alumna Tecia Torres (9-1). The fight will appear on the preliminary portion of UFC 218 on Saturday December 2nd. A featherweight title bout between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar is scheduled to headline the pay-per-view event. Tickets for this event are currently on sale.

Torres will look to close our her 2017 campaign with a perfect 3-0 record following a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Bec Rawlings in February and a submission victory — the first of her career — over Juliana Lima in July.

For Waterson, it’ll be her first fight since being submitted by current #1 strawweight contender Rose Namajunas (6-3) on FOX this past April. A win for either fighter puts them right back into the conversation for a world title shot at 115 lbs, where the current title holder, Joanna Jedrzejczyk (14-0) will look to make her sixth successful title defense against Namajunas at UFC 217 next month in New York City.
