Miesha Tate announces her retirement from the sport following UFC 205 loss

After 25 professional fights, former Strikeforce and UFC champion Miesha Tate has decided to call it a career.
Tate’s final fight would come against Raquel Pennington to open up the PPV portion of tonight’s UFC 205 card. Pennington, a pupil of Tate on season 18 of TUF, took the fight via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27 x 2) to extend her winning streak to 4 inside of the women’s bantamweight division.
The Washington born Las Vegas native announced her retirement inside of the cage in a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. Tate leaves the sport with a record of 18-7 and will be remembered as one of the true pioneers of women’s mixed martial arts.
