The New Day’s record-breaking title run ends at 483 days

The New Day’s historic run as WWE Tag Team Champions came to an end last night in Pittsburgh via the unlikely duo of Cesaro and Sheamus. Kofi, Big E and Xavier bested the 478 day record set by Ax and Smash of Demolition only to have their reign end just 5 days later at 483 days leaving the trio stunned last night at Roadblock: End of the Line.

After fighting to a no contest in match 7 of their 3-3 best of seven series at Clash of Champions, RAW GM Mick Foley decided that the only way for Sheamus and Cesaro to work out their issues would be to pair them as a tag team. It’s been an interesting dynamic with Sheamus playing the role of the heel and Cesaro the fan favorite babyface but it’s worked so far and has ultimately resulted in the two dethroning the longest reigning tag team champions in WWE history.

The New Day will use their rematch clause tonight in Columbus, Ohio on Monday Night RAW in an effort to become your 3-time WWE World Tag Team Champions.
