NJPW G1 Special in USA Night 2 Results

Night two of the NJPW G1 Special in the States begins tonight (7/2/117) at 8 p.m. ET live on NJPWWorld. A inaugural IWGP United States Champion will be crowned tonight and two titles will be on the line when Hiroshi Tanahashi defends his IC title against Billy Gunn and The Young Bucks take on Roppongi Vice. 6-man tag team match
Kushida, Jushin Liger & David Finlay defeat Yoshi-Tatsu & The Tempura Boyz via submission (stretch muffler) – Finlay forces Yoshitatsu to tap

IWGP US Heavyweight Championship Semifinals
Kenny Omega defeats Jay Lethal via pinfall (One Winged Angel)

IWGP US Heavyweight Championship Seminfinals
Tomohiro Ishii defeats Zack Sabre Jr. via pinfall (vertical drop brainbuster)

10-man tag team match
Juice Robinson, Jay White, Volador Jr., Dragon Lee & Titan defeat Tetsuya Naito, Evil, Bushi, Sanada & Hiromu Takahashi w/ Daryl (Jay White hits the Flatliner on Bushi for the pin)

6-man tag team match
Hangman Page & G.O.D. w/ Haku defeats Michael Elgin & War Machine via pinfall (Hangman pins Rowe after hitting the Rite of Passage)

Before the intermission, NJPW Chairman Sugabayashi announces that New Japan will return to the US in 2018 and that this is only the beginning.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship
The Young Bucks (c) defeat Roppongi Vice via submission (Twin Scorpion Death Locks after hitting a Meltzer Driver) – Ricochet attacked the Bucks following the match and called for a title shot in Japan for him and Taguchi (The Funky Future) – he also did a shoot on Lucha Underground saying “he would’ve been their earlier but a certain Underground fighting company are being pricks right now.” Rocky Romero announced that Trent Beretta would be moving up to the Heavyweight division and Roppongi Vice would be disbanding. The two embraced and their theme music likely played for the final time. What a crazy show.

8-man tag team match
Cody, Bad Luck Fale, Yujiro Takahashi & Marty Scurll defeat Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay & The Briscoes (Cody pins Ospreay after hitting the Cross Rhodes)

IWGP Intercontinental Championship
Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) defeats Billy Gunn via pinfall (high fly flow)

IWGP US Heavyweight Championship Final
Kenny Omega defeats Tomohiro Ishii to become the inaugural IWGP US Heavyweight Champion

Bullet Club came down to the ring to celebrate Omega’s victory. Dissension was teased between Cody and Omega but Cody would eventually place the belt around Omega’s waist. Omega would then cut a babyface promo and give the fans in Long Beach some love. The show ended with Bullet Club at the top of the stage celebrating Omega’s big victory.
