Ring of Honor ‘Best in the World’ Results: Cody wins a world title

Published

on

You can call him ‘The Grandson of a Plumber,’ you can all him  ‘Dashing’. Some may even call him ‘The Essence of Mustachioed Magnificence,’ while others will remember him as ‘The Star That Left Them in the Dust’. As of last night, you can also call him Ring of Honor World Champion.

Cody (Rhodes) was able to best ROH vet Christopher Daniels in the main event of last night’s annual Best in the World PPV to claim one of the most coveted prizes in all of wrestling. After some interference on both sides, Cody was able to hit the CrossRhodes for the pin.

Cody got extremely emotional when he was presented the belt by ROH Ambassador Cary Silkin while being nailed by streamers, a tradition at Ring of Honor shows when fans want to show love for their favorite wrestlers. Cody joins the likes of Samoa Joe, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness, Austin Aries, Tyler Black, Kevin Steen and Jay Lethal to become only the 23rd World Champion in Ring of Honor history.

This is where things get interesting. This means the main event in Long Beach next weekend will be a champion versus champion contest when Kazuchika Okada defends his IWGP World Heavyweight Title against Cody.
