Dennis Siver injured, new opponent being sought for BJ Penn at UFC 199 in Inglewood

Former two division champion BJ Penn will return at UFC 199 – but it won’t be against Dennis Siver as originally planned.
According to BJPenn.com, Siver suffered an undisclosed injury that has forced him to be yanked from the upcoming card in Inglewood on June 4th. Penn was given notice of the injury late Tuesday and was told that a search for a new opponent is currently underway. This news comes just hours after the removal of Anderson Silva from UFC 198.
Penn versus Siver was scheduled to headline the preliminary portion of UFC 199 on FOX Sports 1. The PPV portion of the card will be headlined by a middleweight title rematch pitting champion Luke Rockhold against the man he beat for the strap at UFC 194, Chris Weidman. The co-main event will feature a trilogy bout between bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and perennial title challenger Urijah Faber. Before the two title bouts, Penn’s fellow Hawaiian, Max Holloway, will battle Ricardo Lamas while Dan Henderson versus Hector Lombard and Dustin Poirier versus Bobby Green rounds out the standard five fight PPV.
Stay tuned for more updates on the search for a new opponent for Penn’s return to the octagon.
