Triple H prepared to offer Ronda Rousey a WWE contract
In an appearance to hype the WWE Network exclusive Mae Young Classic tournament on ESPN Sportscenter, WWE Executive Vice President of talent, Triple H, revealed that former 6-time defending UFC Champion Ronda Rousey is indeed in conversations with the promotion at this time.
“First of all she’s gotta stop throwing me around the ring,” the former 14-time WWE World Champion quipped. “The last time I was in the ring with her, Ronda threw me from one side the other, I didn’t like that very much.”
Rousey most recently appeared in episode one of the aforementioned Mae Young Classic in support of her friend Shayna Baszler, another former UFC talent. Baszler advanced to the second round of the tournament with a quick finish via her patented Kurifuda Driver finish before seeking out Rousey and friends—a group known collectively as the 4 Horsewomen of MMA—in the front row.
“Ronda’s a huge fan,” Triple H told Sportscenter. “She’s definitely interested and we’re having conversations. I’ll say it right here on ESPN, if she wants the opportunity, I’d be willing to give it to her.”
This supports the ongoing rumor that Rousey and her fellow horsewomen could be joining Baszler at Survivor Series to take on the team of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch, a group pro wrestling fans know as the 4 Horsewomen from their NXT days in tribute to Charlotte’s father, the legendary Ric Flair.
Rousey recently married UFC heavyweight Travis Browne on August 28th in Hawaii—Browne’s home state.
