Frankie Edgar (20-4-1) extended his winning streak to five tonight after finishing Chad Mendes (17-4) with a precise and deadly left hook KO that ended his night after just under two and a half minutes into the first round.
This win solidifies Edgar as the number #1 contender for whomever emerges victorious tomorrow night when Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor battle to unify the titles in the main event of UFC 194. For Mendes, it’s going to be interesting to see what’s next for the former number #1 contender now that he’s dropped three of his last four inside of the octagon.
