UFC 189 Highlight: McGregor TKO’s Mendes to claim UFC gold

Conor McGregor (18-2) lived up to the hype he created and beyond tonight in his first stint as a UFC PPV headliner. Tonight, inside of the MGM Grand Garden Arena, where legends are made, the man known as “The Notorious” one will leave the building with a UFC belt wrapped around his waist.
#1 featherweight contender Chad “Money” Mendes (17-3) did his part by putting his opponent on his backside not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 times during the time they spent together inside of the world-famous octagon. Unfortunately for Mendes, the accumulation of body shots and straight left hands from McGregor were just too much to handle at the end of the day. With just 3 seconds left in the second stanza, referee Herb Dean would wave off the contest in an effort to save Mendes from any permanent damage. The highlights and post-fight octagon interviews are all yours to enjoy below.
