UFC 193 Highlight: Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Valerie Letourneau

The pride of Poland, UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, cruised to a unanimous decision victory over Valerie Letourneau yesterday in the co-main event of UFC 193, but it wasn’t without a little bit of difficulty from her opponent early on.

Letourneau didn’t come out looking the part of a nearly +1000 underdog. The French Canadian challenger was able to use her size to take the 1st round on two of the judge scorecards but it’d be all downhill from there. Jedrzejczyk showed us why they call her “Joanna Champion” for the next four rounds by putting an absolute Muay Thai clinic on Letourneau. Her arsenal of violence wasn’t enough to put her tough as nails opponent away but it was enough to earn her a new UFC record.

Jedrzejczyk’s 220 significant strikes landed is the most in UFC title fight history and is second to Nate Diaz’s 238 significant strikes landed back in December of 2011 against Donald Cerrone. The 70 leg kicks she landed beat the previous record held by Carlos Condit of 68, a record he set back at UFC 143 against Nate’s big brother Nick.

Check out some highlights from Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s second successful title defense below.
