Brash Brit Micheal Bisping (29-7) more than made right on his first opportunity at UFC gold tonight in Inglewood, CA.
On just 17 days notice, filling in for an injured Chris Weidman, Bisping stood in with now former champ Luke Rochold (15-3) and took his best shot. As veteran color commentator Joe Rogan pointed out early on in the fight, Rockhold held his chin straight up in the air with complete disdain for Bisping’s power. With under two minutes left in the round, Bisping caught Rockhold with a left on the jaw that buckled him. He kept his patience and picked his spot before landing another left, then followed Rockhold as he fell to the ground to land two rights before referee called off the fight. You read that right, Micheal Bisping just KO’d Luke Rockhold to become your new UFC middleweight champion.
